It never rains on the orange river!
Famous last words from our guide Hennie :)
13 Namibians, 2 Brits (incl 1 Zimbo), 2 Norwegians, 1 German, 2 Saffa's, 3 Dutch and 1 Indonesian set off along the orange river 4 days ago - 20 kms later, in need of a wash, tired and aching we arrived back in SA.
Whilst tired, we have had great fun, were well fed and experienced just a small taster of Namibia. Its a vast, barren, hauntingly quiet, but strangely beautiful country. The river was fast flowing, stretches of pond, followed by rapids, rushes, grass and rocky banks.
We have slept under the stars for 4 nights, thankfully the rain cleared up at night time although it was touch and go on 2 occasions.
We met some great people and have now got a thirst to see more - maybe Christmas time with mum and dad. Cider might also get an invite, check out the dog in one of the canoes!!!!
Hope everyone is well and those in the Northern hemisphere are looking forward to summer - its getting cold here (15 degrees at night) lots of love Cath & Nige x
