Phew, yesterday was intense!!! Having seen La Boheme advertised and realising we needed to travel to the box office we set off for Forenze (we were uncertain as to whether Forenze and Florence were even the same place)!!! Several hours later having been stuck in traffic which came to a complete stand still and then journeying into Florence and getting very lost in the surburbs we arrived at the station car park, where we left the car in relief. Spotting McDonalds and the tourist information we made our way inside the later to purchase a guide to Tuscany and a city map - we were indeed in Florence, but much to our disbelief, the opera was taking place in the Florence region 20km from our hotel and not in the city itself!!!
However having journey'd there we decided to explore, stopping first in McDonalds for much need refreshments - we saw the 'gates to paradise', David himself (no doubt modelled on Davo), and the pont vechicco - all whilst surviving 40 degree heat - phew!!!!
Armed with lots of water and revived by a big Mac we finally returned to the station, hopped in the car and sped back to our little town of Gaoile, just outside of which we found a campsite selling tickets to La Boheme, having located the piazza within which the opera is to be performed, we then found a little music shop also selling tickets - here we bought two (tomorrow we will enjoy open air opera in the town square - kick off 9.15 pm). We are very excited!!!!!!
Finally we arrived home, completely exhausted but having achieved our objective - 2 opera tickets and a city tour of Florence!!!!
