Thanks so much for all your lovely messages.
Gosh Mar, your rele's must be very close by - is this the famous aunt who is a cooking queen (Chris is always talking about her)?!
Yesterday was full of lots of adventures, we caught the bus to Sorrento then the hydrofoil to Capri and then as recommended by a work colleague a taxi to AnaCapri. The taxi's were amazing, white convertables with a canopy on top, we really did feel like we were living the high life! We dashed up the mountain side, hairpin bend after hairpin bend until we arrived in AniCapri the second city of Capri. Here we visited Sainte Michaele, a beautifully restored Italian Villa with exquisite views and gardens (of course we also enjoyed some icecream).
To give the purse a rest we caught the bus back to Capri, this time we hurtled down the mountainside before walking 500 steps back to the port where we caught the hydrofoil back to the mainland.
Once back at the hotel, travelling again by bus we showered and hopped into our Fiat embarking upon the 1 hr journey to Ill Positano where we had a dinner reservation. The ride was very white knuckle - Nige clinched the wheel throughout the 1 hr ordeal! We wound up, we wound down we navigated around hairpin bend after hairpin bend before eventually arriving in Il Positano - a beautiful mountain village clinging to the Almafi Coastline. We gladly parked the car at the first spot we found and started our desent to the beach where we understood our restaurant was located. We must have walked down about 500 steps, in between houses, hotels and restaurants before arriving on the beach. Our restaurant was at the far end of the beach with a beautiful view of the coastline, harbour and village. Our dinner was fantastic, the best we both agreed being the chocolate souffle dessert! After dinner having enquired as to a quicker way back up we ascended the 500 steps - ouch!!!!
Finally back in the car, we realised there was only one way to go and that was down, so in the car we drove down to the beach before circling back up to the top of the hillside to arrive just 100 metres from where we had parked the car, but going in the right direction!!!
We slept well last night!!!
With aching calves, today we plan to relax on the beach before a late afternoon drive beyond Il Positano to the most beautiful of Amalfi villages......
