On Saturday night we got our first Sleeper train from Hanoi to Hue. The begining to our journey wasnt fab, as the taxi driver dropped us off around the back of the station so we had to run with our bags to try to find the way in!! We made it to our train and found that we were sharing with a guy form Luxembourg and his girlfriend from Germany. They were training doctors on their placement in a hospital in hue! We managed to sleep for most of the time, but the air con was rubbish and the bunk squashed as we were hugging our bags. We were woken at 7 by the ridiculously loud speaker playing piped Asian music and giving a history lesson in Vietnamese - not impressed in the slightest!!! I finally braved it to the loo after holding for 11 hours.... should have waited longer as the one on the train was a fragrant experience! Got off at around 11am and took a cyclo to our hostel. We loved the hostel. It has a really chilled atmosphere and served delicious home comfort food (i know we shouldn't have been tempted but the spag bowl was to die for!!!) In the afternoon we explored the town and walked along the Perfume river. We took a tour of the Imperial City on a cyclo and our driver gouldnt stop talking anout Chelsea and Manchester City! We spent the evening at the hostle bar with our dorm mates...Seb, Daniella and Owen. We also met a couple of other fellow backpackers amd headed off to the local club "Brown Eyes". It was hilarious, half locals and half backpackers. The locals were dancing crazily and couldnt stop dragging the westerners in to dance and taking photos.
Hue is such a chilled place a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of manic Hanoi. We met some really cool people and now are feeling alot more at home. Still so many more stories to writa about, but been hogging the computer for at least the last hour so the next instalment will have to come later! Celia xxxxx
