Monday 21st February – Up early’ish breakfast and out by 9am. Got to Cowaramup just before the shops opened at 10am. First shop – Gift shop, air-con ummmm... second shop – soap shop – got all buttered up, then onto the lolly shop. Finally, the gourmet shop with olive oil tasting and stuff like that. Then onto Margo River, where wondered around the shops there. Stopped for coffee Jeans, a quick t-shirt stop for Ade and then a pie, before going onto our first Winery. Edwards Winery – Nice place, but rather expensive. Interesting story about the owner flying from Oz to London in a Tiger Moth. Got a couple of nice pics of that sitting in the hangar (now retired). From Edwards, onto Juniper – great bloke, great wines... made a purchase! A small rest from the vino into an olive oil tasting – Bela Olio or something similar... From Olio onto Mad Fish/Harmans – a little sterile and commercial, but ok – no purchase! Hayshed next – nice barman again and gave us some great tastings. Walked out with a couple from there – a fab rose and hefty Cab Sav! Bootleg Brewery to end the day. Now... Ade had the $12 6 x beer tasters... didn’t touch the sides! Rob had a wheatbeer, ladies had the boring white Semillon! Followed up with a HUUUUGE feast on a platter, however it did make for a rather large doggy bag to take home. Back home for a beer, down to the beach for sunset and beer. Ade met a nice lady photographer who insisted on showing her expensive Nikon SLR, which made Ade feel most inadequate with his Fuji Bridge Camera, which he swiftly hid from her view! Back home for Baileys and bed. Weather = first class...
