AYUTHYAY - 7TH OCT - 8TH OCT 2006
Booked out of our plush 18th floor pad in Bangkok where they tried to charge us for Michelle Heaton's meals and phone calls - thought OK magazine would have covered those costs!!
Taxi (by meter!) to the train station, where we got in our third class carriage of a huge train that pulled into our platform. We then realised the train was getting split into two -and we were in the wrong half! Jumped off the train and ran down the platform - except for Cathryn whose bag straps were caught in the door of the train with no locals willing to free her!
We were met at Ayuthaya by much improved tuk-tuk men who were not run by the mafia like in Bangkok. Little tuk-tuk man took us on a tour of the Wats of Ayuthaya where we saw a huge sitting bronze buddha.
Also went on a night tour of Wats with two canadian dudes. They taught Jen how to use her one year old camera (her eyesight is deteriorating so rapidly she can't read her instruction manual), and we taught them how to play rounders in return.
Cathryn and Rebecca have now learnt how to drink beer after years of avoiding it - even at uni. Chang beer all the way from now on :o)
