Today we arrived in San Jose, Costa Rica! Our amazing week in Cuba is going to be hard to follow, but we're among other things going on a volcano and waterfall trip on sunday! Hugo, the new intern for ABC Startsiden met us at the airport, and he even made lunch for us at his house. He will be a great addition to our occasional AIESEC cooknights .
The past couple of days has been stressful, but we went to Trinidad de Cuba, a beautiful old town and stayd in a great "casa particular", a private house where we rented rooms with priavte bathrooms, very fancy. The lady owning it made great food too. I'm also proud to say that I've had my first swim in the caribbean since I last blogged. I've also taken a dip in the Mexico Gulf, but I think I forgot to mention it. The water, however, was so warm it was almost not refreshing (but only almost!) The beaches have been like in paradise, and I almost avoided a sunburn (but again, only almost!) I've had more first time experiences so far. It was also the first time in a pirat taxi (sorry mom, don't get mad) in Havana with Guro and Juan Carlos. Thinking back on it, it was kind of funny. The driver didn't know how to drive a manual, and therefore he compained about the car being to cold when it didn't move an inch. Quite ridiculous considering it was probably 35 degrees. The second time Guro and I was suppose to go to a hotel to meet up with some friends from Norway, but it turned out to be impossible to get an official taxi. So we dragged more or less a stranger, but someone we had met the day before, with us into the taxi to make us feel safer. We didn't really know him either, but knew he was more or less considered one of Juan Carlos' friends.. And of course, since I'm admitting to all of this, nothing happened. Another first time experience was a couple of night ago. Lobster dinner! Yum! Noone can say we aren't backpackers with class!!
By the way, if anyone are more interested in our trip, check out Guro's blog. blogs.kilroytavels.no/gurof
ps. Guros blog is in Norwegian.
