It is time for me to begin my journey again.
The last few days (since the 28th of November) I have been back home in the UK.
This was NOT part of the original travel plan...
Basically, as I am South African and I hold a South African passport we were in the process of becoming British citizens when I left... Of course there is only a certain amount of time you can attend the citizenship ceremony on receiving the letter and it just so happened that this date fell right about now...
So off I pop home (a week late due to the theft situation) and it is actually AMAZING to be back home.
Surrounded by white people os a little surreal! But the luxuries of having a proper shower and toilet? Well those I could get used to!
But it's not like this is a holiday.
I have SO much to sort out and I really want to spend time with my friends!
I went out and did quite a lot with my friends and it was SO good to touch base even though it had only be about 6 weeks! How on EARTH was I going to manage 10 months!!
But anyway, I had a lot of paperwork to sort out; visas to reapply for, travel insurance and the cancellation of my Masai Mara trip in Nairobi as I was going to be back too late..
So I attended the ceremony and am now officially a British citizen!!
After this we had to go back home to finish packing (as only bought my bag that morning!) and off we drove to the airport!
Of course I was late.
In fact they told me the flight was closed.
I almost cried but I think all my tears had dried up.
The women were amazing and got me on the flight but I literally had to RUN from one end of Heathrow airport to the other and very nearly missed my flight.
What a relief when I was finally on that plane and I just sank into my seat with a deep sigh and as soon as I could ordered a nice glass of wine.
Something I think I needed several of!
But all was well as I headed back to Nairobi for the next part of my adventure!
