Well, Charlene may have missed the bus to Brismane, but thankfully Sarah and Caroline are a little bit more organised! We arrived in Brisbane this morning, having left Surfer's in a bit of a sleepy daze - we weren't planning on going out last night but we were persuaded to change our minds!! Despite some initial misgivings when we arrived in Surfer's, we actually really enjoyed our time there. Days were mostly spent on the beach, or by the pool when the constant "sea breeze" got a bit much! The hostel were under the impression that there were 4 of us in our tiny room, so Sarah and I got a room to ourselves - Miranda and Collette were quiet as mice and didn't take up any room at all - perfect roomies! There is a lot of nightlife in the city, so evenings were pretty busy too! We had a couple of nights out with some girls we met in the hostel from around Croydon way - we got on really well so its been good to have people to pass the time with! Last night we were out with the girls and also our friend from college - we had a proper chance to catch up and we're hoping to meet up with them all in Brisbane too so fingers crossed! We're not really planning on getting up to much today - we need the time to recover! Its nice to be back in a city after a week by the beach, so we'll do lots of nice city things that don't involve any sand! Most importantly, we're going to go to Australia Zoo - home of the Crocodile Hunter, or Steve Irwin if you're still not sure!! You know the guy...... "this is the most dangerous snake in the world...so I'm just gonna give it to my mate Bob to hold..." Steve Irwin isn't always there apparently, but he's got a whole range of nutcase staff who enjoy doing the same stunts so it should be fairly entertaining! We're here in Brisbane for four days, and then the next stop is Hervey Bay, where we'll be going on our Fraser Island trip which should be good, although I suspect it will once again involve quite a lot of sand.....oh well, its a hard price to pay!!
