Day 16- Florence
Things are getting hazy, as I havent written in my journal for a few days. This morning we heading into Florence for a leather making demo, then a walking tour by a local guide. We were given free time for the rest of the afternoon, and Ben, Rob, Mel, Kallee and I went to the Accademia, where Michelangelos famous sculpture of David is....absolutely breathtaking, I tell you. We snuck photos, so no worries, you will get to see it guys! Of course, there was the daily gelato in there as well, haha. Then we went back home, and got ready for our group photo, and a tuscan dinner, very pretty and yummy respectively. Then, Space Electronic, a huge disco tech!! Woot! It was super fun, and had good drinks as well. A large portion of us went home earlier, around 12, as we had an early start and long day of travel and exploring of Rome ahead!
Day 17- Rome
Rome!!!! What a wonderful place! We got there in the afternoon, and started straight off with a local guide showing us around the Forum and Colosseum.Once this and the amazing photo ops were finished, Josh started to take us around the city on foot for a tour with him. However, theres a rule in Italy that only locals can give tours, and so right in front of the Pantheon, Joshs fav building in Rome, an undercover cop came over with fine in hand. We all felt so bad!! It really dampened spirts, but we tried to cheer him up by showing our gratitude and all chipping in to try and pay for the fine...he of course wouldnt (and couldnt) accept it, but it meant a lot to him. Supper was in the streets of Rome, at an awesome restaurant off the beaten path. Exhausted from our long long day, we all crashed in our new home without appreciating all the facilities the grounds had.
Day 18-Rome
Today was free time in Rome; we took the train and metro to Vatican city, and explored the various pieces of art and sculpture, the Sistene Chapel, and St Peters Basillica.....no words can describe it, guys. So cool. We went to the top of the dome in the basillica, going up staircases that were so close to the outside of the dome, the walls were literally curved. Spiral staircases and lots and lots of steps all lead to gorgeous views of cities here...and are totally worth it!! Afterwards, A group of us walked around the city, ate our last italian meal (sob!), and then took the Metro and train back to be picked up by the bus. Our campground here also has a pool, so a cool off was in order of course! Supper followed, and now we have to prepare for an eight hour drive, and an overnight ferry ride to Greece.....WEOW!
