Yesterday Pete splashed out and for a rather late birthday present, booked us a night at the amazing Eastern & Oriental hotel, 5 star luxury colonial style. We arrived with our massive rucksacks and Pete's hat and were told to sit down and enjoy a cold towel and fruit punch, the staff were so friendly and efficient, then we were shown the room or should I say rooms. Because we did not have just a bedroom, we had a living room which looked out over the swimming pool and sea, a bedroom with massive bed and the bathroom with two sinks, huge bath tub, shower and toilet with a telephone. It was pure luxury, we just walked from room to room speechless. We took advantage of the swimming pool and both treated ourselves to reflexology.
Obviously that evening I took full advantage of the bath tub and complimentary products, I was in heaven. We made full use of the robes and slippers as you will see on the photos. We ate in the hotel restaurant (just buffet, the a la carte would have been too pricey), although the advantage with buffet is you don't have to choose one thing, because you can have a bit of everything as we did. Little starters, roast dinner, pasta, chinese food and of course dessert, there was also all you can drink wine, so by the end of the meal neither of us could walk in a straight line.
It was fantastic to treat ourselves, but now we are back at the Old Penang guesthouse and deciding where to go next.
