Hot Springs, Arkansas May 21, 2012 We're at the Garvan Woodland Gardens near Hot Springs. It's beautiful - trails with ponds, waterfalls, incredible variety of flowers and trees, bridges, etc. it's all run by the Univ of Arkansas.
Hot Springs, Arkansas May 21, 2012 After the gardens we went to one of the famous hot springs bath houses. On Bathhouse Row there are 6-8 bathhouses that date back to the turn of 20th century. Most are just historical, but some are still open and in business. The one we visited was completely restored and modern, but it looks like it did in 1920. Hot Springs, Arkansas May 20, 2012 We're in Hot Springs AR! An unplanned stop, but is really interesting. Lots of touristy stuff to do. BTW, I saw Jesus just now (see photo). Ok, it wasn't Jesus, it was Kevin. No organization or church or request for money. Just handing out cards with the gospel on them. Oh, and Kevin's cross had a wheel on the bottom!
Hot Springs, Arkansas May 20, 2012 We visited one of the old bath houses (just one preserved like a museum, not a working one). also a wax museum - it was pitiful. Took a Duck ride like the ones in Austin. Drinking free wine and beer now at the Embassy Suites Manager's Reception. Tomorrow we plan to visit their botanical gardens - supposed to be one of the best anywhere; and a big tower that has a great view.
Heber Springs, Arkansas May 19, 2012 We spent a great day with friends Ken and Kathleen Harrison. They gave us the grand tour of the area. It is beautiful country, with tall trees, clear lakes and rivers and long views. Their 5 acre lot is spectacular and I can understand their eagerness to build there. We ended the day with fine dining at Red Apple Country Club, over looking the lake.
