Today my day started by me opening me eyes to my parents telling me to get up and get dressed. They were waking us up to go and make sushi. Yes you got that right today we are learning how to make sushi. Oh and also dumplings also called gyozo. After a rush breakfast a lady arrived and brought us to where we are going to make sushi and dumplings. First was the sushi. We learned how to make Maki (the sushi in rolls), Nigiri (the sushi that is rice on the bottom and fish laying on top of the rice), and last but not least Gunkan (battleship sushi).
We learned how to make Maki two ways. One way is the traditional way where you use bamboo to roll the rice into the seaweed. The other way is way is easier and you put all of the rice into a plastic mold, which makes the rice circular. Then you take it out and wrap it in seaweed with your hands. We did the first way about 10 times then got to do the easier way about 20-30 times. It was sooooooooo fun that I forgot about the two other kinds of sushi.
After making Maki we made Nigiri. For Nigiri you have to shape the rice into a rectangle. Everyone in my family tried and they were ok but not the best sooooooooooooooo, we used another mold. This mold was also very, very, very, very, very, very, very, helpful. Making the Nigiri was not as fun as making the rolls because all you had to do was use the mold to make the rice shaped then put fish or egg on top of it. The next sushi was Gunkan, but for the rest of my blog I am going to call it battleship because it looks like a battleship. The battleships were really fun to make also because you wrapped the seaweed (Niri) around the rice than put something on top of it.
After making the sushi it was time to make dumplings. Making dumplings really was not that fun because all you did was get cases put meat and salad in the cases then fry them. That is really all that we did making dumplings. Once we were done making dumplings and sushi we got to eat it all with everyone else that worked there. It was sooooooooo fuuuuuuun!!!!!!! We made them their dinner!
The day before we made sushi we went to a museum that has their own real robot named Asimo. Once we got to the museum Asimo was ready to come out so we grabbed some seats. Asimo DANCED!!!!! LEANED ON ONE LEG!!!!!!! AND KICKED A SOCCER BALL!!!!! At first I thought it was a real person til I noticed his hips were too skinny. It was soooooooo cooooooooool!!!!!!!!!! After looking around the museum a bit and watching a movie about how the galaxy was formed we decided that Japan was really, really, really, smart.
After the amazing museum we went to a restaurant called Ninja. This restaurant had Ninjas serving you your dinner. There was a bunch a secret doorways that you had to go through to get to your table. While we were eating our great meal a magic trick Ninja came along and taught us a trick. This trick cannot be told to anyone because it is our family trick. So SORRY!!! After a great, I mean delicious, chocolate cake we went home and to bed. That was my day.

Heather You are making me very hungry!! See if you can find Jiro there -- he is a very very famous sushi chef. He is very serious about it. Very strict and precise, which is crucial because making sushi is like making art ;-)
