BLOG BY KATE AND MARINA
Our plane finally arrived in New York on Tuesday night, despite our near- 30 hour journey, we couldn't possibly think about sleeping. We had a long bus ride into the city. We were amazed by the spectacular city life with busy streets and bright lights.
Our first day we left the hotel at 1pm and met with our tour guide Robert (who loves the way we all say his name with our Aussie accent). He took us for a short tour of the city, and of course we underestimated how hot it would be. Did some productive shopping in 5th Avenue and were exhausted from the exciting day and not to mention sill jet- lagged.
The next day we explored the markets at Harlem and were easily talked into buying and experienced the world of bartering. That night we all went to our first Broadway shows; Sister Act, Chicago and Lion King. Kate saw Chicago and insists how spectacular it was. Marina saw Sister Act and says it was absolutely stunning, funny and absolutely fantastic. Had our first rehearsal for Saint Marys that day.
Friday was our first performance in New York at St Marys Cathedral. The acoustics were amazing but we almost died from the heat. That night two buses were taken separate ways; one to the art museum and the other to historical museum. Kate and Marina went with two supporters to the Birdland Jazz Club. The performance was breathtaking and the food was great.
Heaps more to discovering and more shopping to be done! LOVING NEW YORK!
Love Kate and Marina
