European Adventure
Γειάσου from Patras!
We arrived here yesterday after visiting Athens with plans to get on the ferry to Venice. But I goofed up and forgot that the ferry doesn't leave on Sundays, so we camped out in a church courtyard. I moved after finding a slug on my sleeping bag.
Today we spent some time going around town. Turns out there are free bike rentals at the tourist information center so we pedaled our way to the Church of Agios Andreas, where the head of St. Andrew is on display. It is kept in a silver container with a clear piece of glass on top where you can view the top of the skull. Odd to look at such things.
Riding a bike in a Greek city is no small task. Nor is being a pedestrian. Traffic here and in Italy is a bit chaotic. Lots of motorbikes and small cars weaving in and out and past one another to get to the next place quickest. Often times you have to wait for a break in traffic and dart across the street.
Our camera officially stopped working in Athens. It won't turn on anymore and we weren't able to take any pictures at Acropolis. So no pictures for a while. Hopefully everything will get taken care of soon.
Our next stop is Venice for a few days. The ferry is 35 hours and leaves at midnight tonight. We have PB&J and a few snacks for the trip. PB is hard to find here. Groceries didn't work out so well today. Not much selection at the markets and we're thinking of investing in a small camping stove.
Hope everyone is well back home. Ben says, "Europe is a blast and we'll catch you on the flip side".
