We brought Brenda off a very nice chap (ish) in June '10 and got her up to Paul Marsh and the Footloose boys for them to kit her up. Paul has done a sterling job designing her with us and the workmanship is top notch. We took Brenda on a few trips over the year so we could all get to know each other and practise living together. Brenda to her credit has managed to survive running out of fuel in the Peak district, torrential rain in Snowdonia and a trip across a very muddy moor in Wales and all without so much as a sneeze. She even survived an MOT at Kwikfit! All in all, Brenda you rock.
It seems however, that preparing the car is only half the battle. Little did we realise just how much other preparation we would need to do. Sorting out visas and other paper work, planning the route, researching border crossings, national parks, ATMs, petrol facilities, planning food, fuel, tools, recovery gear, spare parts, medical gear, deciding what to wear (can Amy get by without heels for 9 months? Can Nick?), booking ferries, euro-tunnel, hotels, getting injections, sourcing 6 months worth of Malarone, learning how to repair a puncture……. and that's just for starters.
So what's left, well not much actually, Ethiopian Visa gets collected on Thursday, Carnet is hopefully on its way, a few things to pick up then pack up the house and we're off.
