Fiesta....the whole of Granada has been celebrating this week due to the Corpus Christi religous event.
The streets have been full of music and flamenco..mostly amatuer stuff...but cool none the less. (Check out the Video section!)
The pinnacle for me though was the Bullfight...there has been one every night this week, but could only get tickets for last nights. It was everything I remembered it to be. I´ve put some photos on the site but kept better ones off in case anyone copies them... :P
I splurged 65 euros on gettin a decent seat in the shade, really near the front..others went from my school but were dotted around the Plaza. They pack you into your seats and I had an old womens knees in my back and had to manouver my knees myself. The old women in question must of said Muy Bien about twenty million times right down my ear...
The bullfights were pretty good..there was two good kills who got the white hanky treatment. And one really bad kill...must of took a good five minutes for the bull to die. It was really bad in the end...didn´t applaud.
The white hanky entitles the matador to the ears of the bull and he takes great delight chucking them into the crowd, so people can get their sunday best clothes covered in blood...niiiiiiice! There is a short VIDEO of the bullfight on my blog..check it out!
After the bullfight we went to a huge fair on the edge of Granada which was heaving...it has all the usual rides and loads of flamenco/beer tents...it reminded me of a family wedding on a grander scale...dodgy music in the tents with old people nearly fallin over!
