Hola amigos and fam
Jambon jambon!! I´m not talking about the dodgy spanish film with penelope cruz having sex behind a bull sign , but ham, rather serrano ham, hung in the mountain air for months and then served up on a plate mucho later..
I bit the bullet and went on an organized tour of the Ajupurras...just down the road from Granada. Its right by the Sierra Nevada of Spaghetti Western fame and now home to Chris Stewart (ex ex Genesis) who owns a farm around there and has wriitten many cool books on the area...Driving Over Lemons, Parrot in a Pepper Tree...I should get royalties for pluggin his books!!! Anyhow its a bit like the Lake District except there are no lakes haha...the villages are perched and I say perched on valley sides..they look like they are gonna slide down any minute. We went roudn four in all and the best according to the Lonely Planet (plug again!!) so had my fill of white washed villages for a while.
As part of the tour we went to a Jambon factory which was a bit of an eye opener, they slaughter the pigs in front of you and then hack of the legs while the pigs is still semi alive...I jest hahaha....it was all very clean and ordered...the ham joints arrive on a lorry and shipped into the factory wheree they are saalted and then hung for months on end in the moiuntian air...(check out my VIDEO) A few of the girls on the tour had to leave cos they were veggie...understandable really hahaha
Anyhow it was a cool dayand well worth the trip....
I have the bullfight on wednesday and the missus..aka Vicky is coming over (can´t wait!!) for the weekend on fri so will ´do´the Alhambra finally as part of my tourist duties!!
School is good but still intense...I´m enjoying it but just still hard to keep with it when they constantly bring in new vocab and move on really quick! . So
