...we have rested well and got an idea for another trip
...the following day we were amazed that on a regular work day literally everything was closed and that Leh turned into a ghost town in memory of some events from the war time. Everything went back to normal as of 2 p.m. though.
...we were told that the person signing our permits to enter the Pangong Lake area area may or may not be there the following morning. In fact by 10:30 everything was arranged
...we travelled nearly 5 hrs on a bumpy mountain road (I got sick) to get to the famous lake where in 2009 a Bollywood movie called '3 idiots' was made and gave a great boost to the local Nomad society
...we reveled in the unique beauty of the lake but the cold wind discouraged us from longer walks
...we came back to Leh on the same bumpy road (I got sick again) and spent our last hours in Ladakh enjoying her many restaurants and deploring the suddenly deteriorating weather (winter is coming!)
...we flew back to Mumbai (via Delhi), did our last shopping, got into a small dispute with a guard at the airport terminal building who refused to let us back in after we made a few steps out the door (demanded an onward ticket), as seems to be our tradition on our last day in India, if you remember last year's blog, and fianlly happily fell asleep on the flight back to Europe.
...we found Brussels blissfully quiet and empty, welcoming it with a relief. I'm afraid it won't last long though and we'll get travel itch again soon enough... Check back for updates later!
