Over the last three days we:
1. Said goodbye to the coast for good.
2. Took a train from Goa to Hospet - this being a daytime train we could admire the mesmerizing variety of its inhabitants large and small scurrying about the floor unmolested.
3. We were still dumbfounded at the vast array of possibilities presented by an average electrical switch console in an Indian hotel room. As in the photo, there seem to be 12 switches on average, none of them marked, their on and off positions varying within the same console, no rhyme or reason whatsoever as to their arrangement or operation. Adding to the confusion is the fact that some work with a slight delay. So even after staying in the same room for 3 nights you still struggle to find the one switch you really need at the moment. Fascinating.
3. Feasted our eyes on the ancient temple ruins in Hampi while trying to keep at bay rickshaw drivers desperate to offer their services.
4. Were sorry to find that because Hampi is a 'temple town' no meat or alcohol of any kind is to be had anywhere (and they still have burgers on the menu but don't have the decency to say there's no burger in them:). We'd had very little of the former and none of the latter during the whole trip but somehow felt a hankering for both coming to Hampi. Ironic I guess.
5. Had our first chocolate banana pancakes on this trip (!) and the worst cappuccino (chicory coffee ewww!!!) and papaya juice EVER!
6. Bought tickets for the Delhi->Agra train (Taj Mahal!) - not an easy feat as they're sold out weeks in advance - and only afterwards realized I hadn't checked if they're not booked for a day when the Taj might be closed. They weren't. Phew!
7. Had so many people trying to take a picture with us near the hotel that we had to retreat to our room and start being rude (well, assertive) in saying no. Most took photos of K without even asking anyway.
8. Went to Daroji Bear Sanctuary and watched some sloth bears from afar - hardly what you would call an adventure because they were very far but still something new.
