1. I arrived in Mendoza and it made me redefine the word "hot". And here I was thinking Buenos Aires was sun drenched...
2. After some minor shop running I got my permit to visit the Aconcagua provincial park at a bargain price of US$550, hired the mule to take my stuff to the base camp at US$220 (saves two days worth of trudging up with heavy load).
3. I took a bus to Puente del Inca, found a nice basic dorm where friendly Spanish and Swiss backpackers treated me to pasta and homemade bread and I didn't even get to do the dishes :)
4. I wondered why all the locals seemed to have left town for Christmas, apparently taking their food supplies with them. Thanks again for saving me from starving Cyrill, Clara and Oscar!
5. I survived my first chilly night on this trip - 12C under a thin blanket.
6. I realized the 1980s must have marked some biblical period in Argentina's child naming history. Cause all I meet these days are Ezequiels, Emmanuels and Eliases.
