Something bizarre happened when I woke up, I could barely see anything! Obviously it was dark, and I didn't have my contacts in but that was normal. There was just something else not quite right. I got up and walked towards the light switch whilst asking Sarah and Masa if they could take a look at my face. As I turned the light on, they both gasped and put their hands over their mouths...that was comforting! Masa then said 'oh my god, your eye!'. I ran over to the mirror to see that my eyelid had swollen up and was completely closed! It wasn't sore but was a bit tender to touch. We couldn't work out what it was. I took an antihistamine and tried to bathe my eye with some antiseptic lotion Sarah brought. We headed to Starbucks for breakfast. It was raining out but it was an absolute necessity that I wore my sun glasses looking the way I did. We had planned to go off exploring some of the island today but there was no way I was going to risk driving with only one functioning eye and I didn't feel comfortable going on the back of one of the girls as I like to be in control when I'm nervous. I had a lot of 'admin' stuff to do anyway as well as planning a possible trip to Hong Kong later in the month. So I decided to stay put in Starbucks and make the most of the wifi for a couple of hours while the girls went off on the mopeds. I also tried to FaceTime mum who was heading to the gym at a ridiculous hour in the morning but I struggled with the wifi connection. Once the girls got back, Sarah had a nap in the room while Masa joined me at Starbucks so she could FaceTime her mum. After, we walked back to the motel and it started raining again! Even though it was raining, it was still really warm out so we ran into the room, grabbed Sarah and ran down to the beach in our bikinis, in the pouring rain to jump in the warm sea! It was an amazing liberating feeling! I had a moment where I thought to myself 'look at your life right now!' After a little while, we got out and headed back to the room to have a quick shower. Masa and I had planned to get treatments later that evening but the group wanted to go for a meal together so once we were ready, we walked to the salon to change the appointments for the next day and were then going to meet the rest of the group at the Mexican restaurant 'The 3 Amigos'. The meal was lush! I love Mexican food. There was about 10 of us, we all shared nachos and then I had fajitas for main. I asked for no spice, but they pretty much blew my head off. After the meal, we headed to the most bizarre little bar. It was called 'ruang bar' but it was like a little beach shack attached to the outside of a shop on the street. It really didn't feel like a bar. Nevertheless, the drinks were cheap and pretty good which was awesome! I'm pretty sure I got a free piña colada too! After a few drinks, everyone was up for a club so we walked for ages to a different street to find one. The music was all dance, then a live band played some chart music in a Malaysian style...an acquired taste I'll say, and then more dance music before the club closed. It was a fab night, topped of with a McDonald's hash brown early hours of the morning...ideal!
