Arrival in Bangkok! Just got here after a pretty gruelling bus journey, around 17 hours, which was NOT the sleeper bus we were expecting, but was actually upright seats, followed by a cramped minibus. Hey ho!
The border crossing itself was not easy - it actually ended up taking around 4 hours to get through, as I think they are very diligent and it is obviously a popular crossing point. This included a pretty scary 20 minutes or so where I thought someone had stolen my smaller bag at customs - the bag that contained EVERYTHING important, including money, bank card, passport, visa, electronics etc. You had to put it through a airport style x ray machine but because it was so busy there was a delay in getting round to the other side to pick it up... when I got there the bag wasn't there! It turns out that somehow the bag had got stuck inside the machine, but wasn't showing up as stuck on the x ray scanners... so it had never come through. Quite a traumatic experience, especially as we could see how easy it would be for someone to just pick a bag up there and go.
Rough plan is to have 2 nights here, then catch a train down to Ko Tao etc area on Tuesday. Think whilst traveling it will be easier to do shorter and more regular updates, although this may turn into shorter ones! Bye for now...

Jane Jackson Hi Bruno, Just caught up with your latest blogs. Can only imagine how you felt when your bag didn't come through! What a relief it must have been when you were finally reunited with it. Stay safe. Love Jane xxxx
