Douglas Brown's Travels
Today's ride was 206km as we took the short route due to bad weather and the fact that 5 of our group had been hit by an intestinal virus which was sleeping the area. We travelled via Mojkovac, Kolasin, Podgorica and Virpazar. It was a particularly bad day for riding with adverse weather traffic delaying roadworks and two accidents to negotiate on the way. The night before we had shared our hotel with a group of German BMW riders. We left before them however they soon caught us up and carved through our group at speed. Passing on blind bends and withy little room to spare. The first accident we came across was one of these BMW riders with his bike in a ditch at the side of the road, the rear rack and number plate holder caved in on the back wheel. We could only assume that he tried to pass a car and pull into the very small space in front of it and had been hit from behind by the car. The second accident was a car that had completely left the road and you could only see the front of the car poking up out of a ditch. This accident required an ambulance which was on the scene as we arrived. Two of the unwell people were travelling with the main group while the other three had followed Jasa in the support van on the straight route to our hotel. We did not stop for lunch as the two with the main group were feeling more unwell as the day progressed. Due to the limited stops photo taking was again limited and I will add more once we Poole our photos. Our hotel for the night was Hotel Rivijera. This hotel had the comfiest bed so far on the tour and I got the best nights sleep. Petrovac is a great small town that has a lot of character. It has a walled harbour for defence and a 16th century Venetian fortress. It is a sleepy little town with a very good feel too it.
