Wow, it's been an age since I last made an entry! But I'm sure you'll forgive me when you hear of my many projects!!
I'm now a famous artist having had my profile published in the local magazine and been mentioned on the radio! I'm soooo famous that I've been asked to supply an artwork for a local auction along with loads of famous local artists....my little name seems very odd nestled amongst those with work in galleries and on sale in almost every shop in town.
Being English has somehow enabled me to teach it to year 10s on a permanant basis at school. According to the head, it's the best type of qualification which strikes me as odd when I think of the spelling by the 'English' kids at school!
Winter is apparently approaching, although autumn hasn't really appeared and the temerature hasn't really dropped much below 18, so Nick & I have made preparations. He's chopped all the wood ready for the fires and I've bought the season passes!!! Snowbarding and snow here we come! I'm still trying to get used to the no central heating policy over here though. Wooden houses, raised off of the ground so that cold air can circulate beneath, with single glazed windows and no carpets and a fire for warmth.......not the best combination when you need a shower in the morning and your nose is cold from not being beneath the duvet. I'm sure Nick'll appreciate the sexy look when I start to go to bed with my ski socks, beanie and jumper on!!
Our residency is still yet to come through. We've waited 4 months now and their process time was between 4 and 6 months, so I guess it could be any day now....
Nick's still working hard building Dirk's house and it's on the final stages as they put up the internal walls and ceiling. We were a little worried last night when we had a 4.2 earthquake right through New Plymouth and Oakura which rocked the walls of our house. We could picture a crack running the length of Dirk's polished concrete floor! I couldn't believe how scary an earthquake can be.....my first instinct was to think about diving under the table just like they warn you on the telly!
