An hour train ride from London & we end up in Brighton, getting off the train and heading for our hostel and I feel hot and sweaty... Sunshine, oh how I've missed you!! Our hostel is right on the beach front and right next to Brighton Pier.... To the Pier it is!! The Pier reminds me of a Carnival from an old movie & I'm in love.. If the Busselton Jetty was this cool I could understand why people would visit it! Fairy floss, candy shops, side show ally games, rides and a bar what more could you ask for!? Although I'm not sure your meant to go to the bar first before you go on the rides.. Whoops.
All along the beach there are bars and restaurants and it seems no matter what day of the week this place is always pumping! The beach is covered in pebbles, no sand. I can't imagine it's very comfortable to lay on but the beach is packed bodies everywhere so I guess it can't be so bad? We decided to do a hop on hop off tour of the city to help us get our bearings, there's nothing too exciting to see but we got a bit of a history lesson out of it.
I'd been recommended by a lot of people to head into Cornwall if we got the chance & Hannah suggested we visit Newquay a small little surfy town on the coast in Cornwall & I'm glad we did! We had views from the top of a cliff over the beach from our hostel, it was amazing! Wish I could say the same about the hostel, it was so dirty I nearly asked for a vacuum cleaner myself! And the shower..... I'm not even going to go there! Yuk.
The bar downstairs was great though, met some really cool people & had a few random nights out on Newquay town with very little memory of them ;) and while in Cornwall you must try a traditional Cornish Pastie, Yumo! Newquay was a welcome break from touristy stuff we took the time to relax and chill out in this cool little seaside town.
Aunty Jo picked us up from Bristol train station giving us a quick guided tour of downtown Bristol city and Kingswood where Abi grew up. Staying with someone was a welcome change, a chance to do some washing & not wear thongs in the shower is always nice! Jo & Ian were so lovely and accommodating of us, it made it hard to leave! Friday night called for pre wedding party drinks down at Hannah's local afterwork Cider boat.... Seriously cool! We need those things in Australia!! The Olympic games opening ceremony was on in the background - can I just say how weird was that opening!!?? But it made for a good atmosphere. Come Saturday & it's the wedding party d-day, Aunty Jo took me to the shops to buy a dress (because of course I don't have anything too wear) & we were ready to rock & roll people.... Well almost! I helped Abi do the girls hair & make up in the arvo & then we were ready to go ;) the party was awesome! I really had a lovely time. It was great to meet Mark & Abi's friends and family that we have never had the chance to meet before & of course Bethany, Marks daughter. The night ended down at the local seedy nightclub Chasers... Now I'd been warned that my feet would stick to the carpet & it would smell of feet inside... And they weren't lying!! Haha but hey what's the smell of feet amongst friends. Kebab o'clock approaches & Kael & I are ready to hit the hey! Sunday morning Ian took us into Bath to show us around & have some lunch the drive through the countryside was lovely. Hannah joined us for our last evening in Bristol & we all went down the pub for a Sunday roast & another pint..... So. Many. Pints. :s but we had to try the famous cider slushys we'd heard so much about.. Once again Australia, we should get onto these!! They would be a summer savior!
From Bristol we had a long journey of trains, ferry & buses before we arrived in Ireland!!..... Goodbye UK x
