First morning in Port Vila, get up time 0530!!........ ok i didnt get up at that time but that was the plan. Revised time of 0700! Yeah!! Breakfast time :D
Headed to the resort holiday manager to book a few trips we had planned but she wasnt there, no big deal, the motel manager helped us out. We booked our free massage in for 0920 today and headed back to our bungalow and chilled on the beach until it was time.
We headed over to the beauty palour to be greeted by two local ladies. We were told to strip off our clothes and lay on the table with our face in the hole of the table. We got an hour massage and it was sooooo good!! Im a bit ticklsh so i kept laughing everytime she went over the centre of my back. She kept laughing at me back too. Other then that i could have easily fallen asleep. Which is excatly what Jono did once it was over and we were back at our room. So i just sat on the beach taking photos of the local children fishing and swimming, today is a public holiday for the Vanuatu people, Custom Chiefs' Day. I have no idea what that is lol .
After lunch we decided to head into town to check out where our boat cruise is and to check out Port Vila. As soon as we stepped out of the Resort we had a bus to catch already! Now i say bus loosely cos to us it was just a van with a "B" on the number plate but its a bus here. The difference between a bus and a taxi, pretty much is the letter on the number plate. "T" Taxi, "B" Bus. Pretty simple. Except dont catch a taxi, catch a bus. it will save you about 27 dollars.
We stopped off at the farmers markets which is open 24/7!! Why? I still dont know. There was bulk people there however. But it smelt a bit funny to me. I have been told that they shut saturday lunch to monday morning so the people at the markets can go home to shower....
Unfortunately because of the public holiday nothing was open today except a few asian shops selling Vanuatu things ( go Figure!!) . We walked around the streets for a bit and had a drink at the Cafe where our tour was going to be be. Jono felt like a coffee but they had ran out so we headed to the grand Mercure which was next door. I dont understand why anyone would want to stay there! Yes it has a casino, Yes its on the waters edge but it really didnt give me the feel for the local culture of the town. It was full of snotty nose business people and all mainly Aussies!.
We went back to the cafe to wait for our cruise, i thought we were going to be the only people on it but another aussie couple arrived who sat with us sharing stories. Now it was going to be a sunset cruise, however there was no sun, just rain, so we post poned the cruise to tomorrow night instead, or play it by ear incase tomorrow night is raining as well.
We grabbed a bus and went back to Breakas, where we went for a walk in the ocean checking out the critters of the ocean floor, i really wish i could tell you what i saw, but i have no idea what they are lol . After that we had a quick dip in the pool and then went to dinner. I ordered the same meal again, yes i know boring! But the chicken was so bloody good! We even had a little entertainment by the drunk aussie couple who decided to go swimming while everyone was eating dinner. ( the restaurant tables are placed around the pool ). One guy went arse up and slipped into the pool, he was lucky he didnt get hurt. But it was funny to watch him eat s***!
Early night tonight!! Getting up at 0530 takes it out of me :P Tomorrow's itinerary - off road 4wd, turtle hatchery and maybe, just maybe a sunset cruise ;)
