Slept in until 9 again and got ready with the hope that tiday would be a beach day. On our trek to the ocean Kayla stopped at the market and got fresh fruit. Then we made a stop and a bakery and got two pastries each. I got a chocolate covered coconut pastry folded like a pretzel and a croissant like pastry with sliced almonds on top. Kayla got a cream pastry and a croissant with chocolate. We got to the beach, the sun was shining, and all was right with the world. We changed into our suits and spent the afternoon sunning, dipping into the ocean, and deflecting all of the vendors walking everywhere on the beach selling wraps, drinks, massages, food, and whatever else. At three-thirty we had been on the beach since about 11, and decided it was time to clean up. We walked back to our hostel, about an hour, to shower and get ready for dinner. We then walked back to the beach/ boardwalk area for dinner because we were told that was the best place for seafood. On our way there we passed this old man, and just with my peripherals could see his pants were open and something of his downstairs was out so I looked away. Kayla was not so lucky, and got an eye-full of this peculiar elderly man's scrotum. When were fully past him I was like, "did we just see scrotum?!" Vomiting/laughing ensued, probably going to haunt us, for sure Kayla, for the rest of our lives. Back to dinner then. I ordered Gilt-head fish, which arrived as a full fish, Kayla got salmon, and we shared a side of papas fritas: French fries. Everything was delicious. Two men who were sitting next to us let us try their shrimp and calamari, wonderful as well. Turns out even though I put sunscreen on today, multiple times in some areas, I managed to get sunburned on most of my body. We walked back to our hostel on our usual path instead of the new path we had taken to get to the restaurants with the hopes of avoiding any more promiscuous elderly men. On our way this tiny older lady came up to us and asked in the this little high voice, "Do you speak English?" So cute. Her husband was close behind her, and they were looking for their hotel and had been lost for a while. They had it marked on their map, low and behold, we actually knew the street next to theirs. We brought them to their hotel, and they were so relieved. Their hotel is in old town, which has no understandable grid system, the streets are narrow, and it was getting dark. They had been flying for 2 days from Washington State and were exhausted, so glad we were of any help. On our walk we also met some study abroad students who loved Kayla's pants that she had gotten in old town earlier that day-not surprised considering they look kind of like genie pants with flowers on them. When we got back to our hostel we finished my caramel chocolate, interwebbed, and hit the pillow. Great day in Barcelona!
