Woke up early, found free parking, and walked to the train station. We bought our tickets to Monterosso the furthest town in Cinque Terre where we started our hike. The paths go along the terraced hillsides filled with vineyards, forest, and olive groves. The paths were rough and rocky with really steep steps but it was awesome and had amazing views....and was a crazy good workout. Monterosso is the biggest of the 5 towns and is beautiful. The first leg of the hike took us to Vernazza, which was a bit smaller. We walked down to the harbor to rest and then got back on the path to Corniglia. This part of the hike was easier, but there was less to see. Corniglia is a bit more confusing to navigate, and a smaller town. No matter where you go you are going up or down stairs. I am seriously concerned about my ability to walk tomorrow for the wedding hah. I'm not sore or hurting now, but jessa's fit bit says we have climbed almost 200 flights of stairs today! In Corniglia A&J got wine and I, as usual, got post cards and gelato. Mango gelato this time, and it was so tasty. I also bought 2 peaches which I can't wait to eat. We waited an hour at the train station at Corniglia to take the train back to Monterosso for a late lunch at Bar Gio's. Jessa got gnocchi and pesto, Aaron got mussels and pasta, and I got scampi pasta and a beer. Bar Gio's is right on the water, and I cannot tell you how good it felt to drink a beer and sit by the Mediterranean after hiking in the sun all day...so good. When we finished eating Aaron and I quickly changed into swim suits and jumped in the freezing Mediterranean. We did not stay in the water long because it was so cold and we wanted to catch the next train. We just barely caught the train we wanted back to La Sprezia. Walked to the car, and drove successfully back to our villas in time to go to dinner with the whole Brixius family. We went to a ristorante called Robin Hood and it was crazy good. Dish after dish of cold cuts, cheese, bread, fried fruit and vegetables, pasta, meat, 4 bottles of wine, and 1 dessert. Our dinner was over 2 hours long....Italians know how to do a dinner justice. After rolling out of the restaurant we went back to the and fell into a massive food coma:)
