Brie & Trent's Travels
Hello Hello.... Trent and I are in Barcelona now after one of our easiest days of travel. We took a quick taxi ride to the airport yesterday and then caught an hour plane ride that landed us here... great!
Unfortunately we werent able to stay in the extra cool hostel that I stayed at the last two times in was in Barcelona, but we found one that was very close and had AC!!! but for some reason they dont run it at night which is the time when we want it the most. oh well. We sat at a fountain in the middle of the Plaza Reial waiting to check in to our hostel and decided our plans for the day. I love all of the founatins in Spain.
We walked around on La Rambla, the main street in BCN where they have a bunch of overpriced outdoor cafes and street performers. We walked to the water... oh I can't wait to jump in the ocean today.. who hoo!!
Our legs were sooo tired and could not go on, so we decided to rest a bit. We really didn't end up resting all that much, mainly because I was antsy to explore. I ate the most delicious falafel that I have ever had... yum. We also cruised around to the cathedral which was kinda a bummer because the facade is being restored and you can't see anything. We walked around the main shopping areas which were super busy, because all of the shops have rebajas which is sales.
We cruised around to a couple of tapas bars which are not even the same as they are in Granada and we had some overpriced beers. We walked into this tiny tiny bar and had some shrimp tapas which were delicious.. .something that I would never do at home.
We decided to treat ourselves to a real meal, and we ate at this really fancy (but xtra cheap) restaurant. Matt and I ate there when we came to Barcelona. The line for the place looked like it had a hundred people but the place was huge so we didnt really have to wait. We ran into Adrian from PLHS (this time it was somewhat planned) which was really cool.. it is fun to see a familiar face hlaf way around the world.
Our dinner was delicious.. we drank a bottle of wine and had some catalan desserts... it cost us less than 18e per person. yum!
After dinner Trent was ready for sleep and even though I was tired I decided to push on and PARTY! there were a lot of people in the main lounge of our Sun and Moon Hostel that were drinking which I found interesting because they told us no alcohol.. oh well. I walked down the street to a market and bought a few beers and joined them. The girls staying in our room were asking about Trent and I told them he was sleeping which they thought was unacceptable, plus they found out we were just friends which I think they liked as well, and they decided we needed to wake him. So we did and he promptly joined the party.
We cruised around the streets looking for a bar, which we found eventually, and I started practicing my spanish with this catalan man. (barcelona is in the region de cataluna in spain) I love separating myself from the group because it is soo much easier to strike up a conversation and practice my spanish... i love it here!
Well we had to check out of our hostel at 10am, and luckily Trent woke up at 945.. after only a few hours of sleep and we are now waiting to check into another hostel because ours was full.
Weregoing to head to the big outdoor market and cruise to the beach for some relaxation. But first we are going to get Trent a subway sandwich because he really needs it.
Love you alll... write me! !!
