Tuesday today! I remarked to my husband today :) that I'm glad I'm keeping a blog because I really want to be able to remember what we did each day. I am struggling to remember what we do each day, is that age or the fact that all the beautifully chilled days are rolling into one blissfully relaxing experience...... the latter I hope. When we were researching locations to get married, and the world literally was our oyster, one of the things that struck me about The Seychelles was the description from the first explorers that they thought they had happened upon the Garden of Eden, well I just had to see it. It's called Vallee de Mai. The tour operator offer the trip for 1000 rupees each which is about €70 but after a little research we found that the entrance fee is €20 each and a local bus is 5 rupees each way which is equivalent to 75p :D so we were very chuffed with our savings and set off for the local bus stop, very excited to be going to the garden of Eden!
The bus journey is an adventure in itself, I won't labour on the point but imagine a half cracked Rastafarian bus driver with no regard for speed limit andas many people standing as can fit in the bus perilously taking bends on 2 wheels........... great craic :D
Now we didn't take a camera as trip advisor writers said that the humidity is so high there that it can damage electrical goods, so far my camera died when we were on the steps of Ephelia walk, my watch also stopped working the same day due to humidity also not battery do we didn't want to risk Tom's camera dying too. Such a pity though because it really is an amazing place, definitely on the list of places to go before you die, just peaceful, breathtaking and beautiful. To make it even more Amazing, Tom saw a Wolf snake in the leaf litter, he was chuffed to bits to see a real snake in the wild :)
Tuesday we went on a walk organised by the resort to Anse Lazio where the fatal attack happened, via Mont Plasir which should translate as the mountain of pleasure!! I can only describe it as the Hill of Hell!! Thank god I gave up smoking a year ago, It nearly killed me and I was very close to saying 'let's go back'. Imagine walking up a ridiculous gradient for 20 mins whilst all the other group are getting further ahead and you're wheezing looking like 'I'm a little tea pot' pretending to be stopping to admire the view?! Still we did it and we survived. The beach was nice but nothing more spectacular than our own beach! The afternoon we spent by the pool just chilling out. This morning, Wednesday we hired bikes to go the local shops for sun cream, Pringles, dairy milk chocolate and some bottles of beer for later. We're going to go snorkelling now, hope the beach isn't too busy :)
