Enjoyed a ‘slow’ day today, in that we didn’t travel anywhere, and just did easy walks around this spectacular place. I walked into the gorge before breakfast with Jesse, then after breakfast with everyone, then after lunch with Jesse and Max (we made sandcastles and played in the river), and then through the savannah just on dusk with Debbie. That’s as slow as it gets for me! I brought a book with me and I’ve read about four pages.
While paddling in the river this afternoon it was Max’s idea to “play goodytown and baddytown”, so the goodies had to fight (splash) the baddies (me). I was assigned “100 percent” health to start with, while they assigned themselves “100,000 percent” health. Of course that didn’t matter much because dying (falling down into the water) was half the fun, and of course you immediately respawned with 100% again. The laughter and joyful shouts which accompanied this water fight must have echoed far up the gorge to the curiosity of the tourists, but they will also echo long in my memory.
Tmmorrow we head into Derby, back to ‘civilisation’. Len and Narrelle are looking forward to bitumen roads, Jesse to 240V power, Deb to leaving the dust behind, Max to doing some food shopping. As for myself, I’m a little sad that the adventurous bit of the holiday is over, but thankful that we’ve had fun in lots of beautiful places and made great memories and photos, that Len and Narrelle were good sports and put up with the bumpy road, and that we didn’t have any serious breakdowns or accidents.

Jane Looks spectacular! We are very lucky to have such beautiful places here in Australia - perhaps it's the remoteness that makes them even more special.
Dell It looks beautiful and what fun for the boys. A special memory.
