Had to face the long slow rough ride out of Purnululu this morning. Found driving out considerably more irritating than driving in, for some reason. So glad to be back on the black top. Why is this gorgeous spot so difficult to get to?
The only highlights of our drive to Kununurra were singing along to Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, which was turned up really loud, and seeing a couple of brolgas about forty yards from the road, which I stopped to photograph.
One thing I forgot to mention yesterday is that Len and Narrelle ran out of gas to run their stove and fridge. Len suspected a leak, so he borrowed our bottle and found the leak and fixed it, but then our bottle ran out as well! So we don’t have stoves that work. Tried to refill here this evening, but the servo has run out also! So instead of cooking, we had the best Chinese takeaway ever, especially the vegetable chow mein - the variety of vegies was awesome and they were perfectly tender-crisp. Yum.
We are camped back in our favourite spot, on the green grass about about six metres from the edge of Lake Kununurra, at the Lakeside Resort caravan park. Really wish we could stay another few days here, but we have to start heading for Sydney. At least we’ll have one last paddle on the lake, at dawn (in our inflatable boat).
