Yesterday was my first full day in London and the theme for the day was all about sight seeing aka "ticking the boxes". Started the morning with The Tower of London which is about 900 years old, and was used as a palace, monument and prison for 'traitors' you could see the ruins of a drawbridge, and also a pit that kept 'wild beasts'. Then I crossed over The Tower Bridge to get across the River Thames, and walked past Butlers Wharf, the Globe Theatre then into Tate Modern, which was pretty good, my fav part was probably the Surrealism exhibit. Next I went on the London Eye, took some photos and then crossed back across the river to get a better look at the Houses of Parliament, one of my fav buildings (its the gothic looking building in the photos, not sure how to add captions..) incl 'Big Ben', then I walked onto Buckingham Palace, back then to Westminster Abbey and finally walked over to St. Pauls Cathedral. Whew! That was a lot of boxes.
I've got lots of photos to show but can only seem to add one photo per post..

Barry Have just read this to your nanna, She sends her love Baz
regina aka mum Hi Bren .while you;re ticking boxes the name of that building we talked about is called st mary axe, but is also known as te faberge egg or the gherkin.I hope you get to see it..love mum
Bren Thanks for that Barry. Mum, I did see the building although I didn't get to see it up close, it really stands out on the skyline. Its like an elongated egg or something. I was thinking about how its constructed, I know eggs are meant to be pretty strong in compression I wonder if they used the egg shape to transmit the loads. I'm pretty sure I got a photo or two I can show when I get back.
