Florence to Venice
Today we were again up early to get an 8:30 train. I really need to stop booking them so early! We didn't leave until closer to 10:30 though as our train was cancelled when we arrived to the station and the one after was an hour later and was delayed by 45minutes. So we sat in McDonalds in the warm.
The train from Florence to Venice was only an hour and a half and the snow on the way was crazy! There was no movement on any roads due to the amount of snow that had fallen. Cars were nearly fully covered and roofs and trees and pretty much everything in site was simply covered, white was the only colour the eye could see. I have never seen anything like it before!
Who would have thought that when we arrived in Venice it would be blue sky and sunshine, and actually feel nearly warm. When we got off the train we had to get a water bus to get to St Mark's square where our hotel was.
After dumping our bags in our room Trav was hungry (for something different) so went and got a nice pasta for lunch followed by a walk in the sunshine, we walked around a few churches, museums and St Mark's square.
Later that night we walked around the streets, they were all lit up and all the stalls come out in the late afternoon. We were determined to buy a mask but I was too picky with the colouring as I wanted it to hang up in our house and Trav was worried about getting it home.
At 4pm our hotel has a tea time so we had a stop off through our wondering to stop for a free cup of tea and a biscuit before heading out again.
For dinner tonight we found a Chinese restaurant so Trav got his duck and I had a tofu and spinach soup. (I had to add some soy sauce for flavour!)
Sweet dreams,
Bree and Trav
