Milan
Last night Trav complained so much to reception he got us breakfast for free this morning, and what a buffet breakfast it was! Everything from cereals and toasts, to eggs and bacon, to chocolate mouse and cakes and everything in between!
After breakfast it was off to the train station it was for us to get lost in Milan and find some good shops and spend our (Trav's) millions! We had found the metro train station just off the main street near our accommodation and decided Central would be a better spot then any to begin! After wondering for half an hour and finding nothing we decided it was time to get back on the train and it was off to Il Duomo stop for us.
Just off the train station was a massive square full of people and pigeons over looking il Duomo. Firstly a black man put "good luck, good fortune" bracelets on Trav and I, then demanded money, talk about being harassed! We told him to take the bracelets back but he tied them in knots on our wrists! We gave him one euro and told him to leave us alone! When I wasn't looking a guy grabbed my wrist and put birdseed in my hand and all the pigeons came from everywhere and were landing on me, ewwwwww!! It was kind off scary! Then he took my camera off me and was taking photos as that was happening Trav was getting handed seeds too! $20 euro later we got away! WE WERE NOT GOING TO LET ANYONE ELSE TOUCH US!! As we were waiting in line to get into il duomo more black men came over to us with the bracelets and wouldn't take no for an answer but we didn't pay for them as we said no and we had no money! Suckers!
Il Duomo was like a massive church, people praying, lighting candles and confessions booths. The art and leadlight windows throughout the church were incredible not to mention the architecture of the building both inside and out.
After Il Duomo, I found what I thought was heaps of shops that turned out to be about five shops and a McDonald's and the shops I were to scared to go into in case I liked something I wouldn't be able to afford them or I would break something!
For the next four hours we wondered going from train stop to train stop in search for shops, asking people and everyone sent us on different paths yet we found nothing.
Devastated (well I was, Trav was glad we never found anything, he hates shops!) we went back to the hotel and made a yummy pumpkin and fetta risotto for dinner.
Sweet dreams,
Bree and Trav
