Rome to Florence
Today we were up and ready for another early train to head to Florence. The streets were so so slippery and very hard to walk on. The soft fluffy white snows had been pushed off the roads and streets over night and were covered in a layer of horrible slippery ice. We were at the station in plenty of time and ready to board except due to the snow our train was delayed…we are definitely getting used to hearing this! An hour or so later we were boarded to Florence. We were there by lunch time and decided to get a map and work out where we were and where our hotel was before venturing off in the wrong direction. We found a McDonald's and worked it out it was one street away, awesome!!! We got to our hotel with out a trouble and checked in straight away. We dropped our bags and rugged up and headed back for the train station. It was off to Pisa for an afternoon for us.
It was snowing the whole way between Florence and Pisa and it was only an hour ride which was good and we got on for free as we used it in our eight day travel pass.
We were in Pisa for maybe an hour and Trav had seen enough, he had the tourist picture of holding up the Tower, seen the shops and frozen to the bone. So we caught the train back and went out for dinner at another Italian restaurant except this time instead of pizza or pasta I had an eggplant parma and Greek salad and Trav had pork chops.
After dinner we went to the markets however they were closing, they are all set up during the day in the winter and close about 5pm. Trav did try on a few leather jackets though and did barter one down (with my help of course!) from $580 euro to $170 euro.
Sweet dreams,
Bree and Trav
