Woohoo we're in LA and raring to see this place! After an awesome breakfast we checked the weather and decided to see the California beaches today as it was the warmest day we have here. We jumped in the convertible and drove down to Venice beach for a swim and some sun.
After a couple of hours we went for a stroll along the boulevard and checked out the world famous Venice Beach gym and the strip of shops and cafes. We had a lunch at one of the cafes and then hit the road again to Santa Monica. Once we arrived we went up to the pier and strolled around before jumping on the ferris wheel for a ride. Santa Monica Pier was such a nice little place and we both really enjoyed just walking around and taking it all in. From the pier there was obviously a great view of Santa Monica Bay where Baywatch was filmed so we went for a stroll along the beach and got a glimpse of the lifeguards in their red togs with their red batons, I loved it! I then sneaked up onto the lifeguard platform for a quick photo. Apparently Pam owns one of the houses along Santa Monica and Brett was pretty sure it was the white one we could see from the beach.
Afterwards we decided to drive along Sunset Boulevard and got lost along the way hitting peak hour traffic hour and all, dammit! We eventually got to this famous LA street when it turned dark but at least we saw some of it including the premier of Pitch Perfect....we only drove past it very slowly but all the actress's were out the front doing interviews so that was pretty cool. We also drove past a couple of filming studios including Nikolodean and CBS. It was all pretty exciting and it got us looking forward to hitting Hollywood Boulevard tomorrow Woohoo!!
For our second day in LA we got up and caught a bus into Hollywood Boulevard. Here we strolled the strip looking at all the stars along the walk of fame and then checking out the Chinese theatre. Outside the front they have all the hand and foot prints from famous actors, actress's and singers including Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, the main cast from Harry Potter & Twighlight and also the hot Aussie Hugh Jackman along with loads of others. We then did a bit of looking around including taking photos of the famous Hollywood sign. It was then lunchtime so we decided to eat at the Hard Rock Cafe and what a great idea that was! As we sat down and ordered Ross Noble walked past and with Brett's smile being so big he said hello! There was also a great Beetles cover band playing and then we noticed a large section closed off for a private party with security so we asked the waitress and it was a party for the 80's band Heart who had just had a star awarded to them on the walk of fame, pretty awesome!
After lunch we jumped on our TMZ tour around Hollywood and Beverly Hills to see if we could spot a celebrity and to see where they all hang out. It was such a good tour! Our guide was hilarious and showed us loads of different places including all the famous restaurants owned and frequented by the celebrities. We were also shown the exclusive clubs and strip clubs often attended and the one Demi Moore learnt to strip at for Striptease. We went past all the beautiful hotels and apartment blocks and the hospital they go to where Jess Simpson recently had her baby girl. Beverly Hills is one cool and expensive suburb and Rodeo Drive really is how you picture it to be with the Pretty Women hotel at the end of the drive. There was so much more on the tour but there's just too much to list, all in all it was an interesting and funny afternoon!
After being dropped off back at Hollywood Boulevard we walked past the Disney shop and decided to check it out and to get us excited for Disneyland tomorrow. While there we fell in love with everything Disney and then decided to get a sundae, yum! We then went across the road where I did a little more shopping before catching the bus back to the hostel for dinner. While waiting for the bus we had another celeb sighting, none other than no. 1 male pornstar Ron Jeremy. It was a great day in Hollywood!
