Okey, where do i start with this one, this will possibly one of the longest blogs i shal write, its only because we travelled like 4,000km. This was a rocky start though with all the trouble with the car thanks to a one 'Bloomfield Track' who shall haunt us to our grave. But it was a good experience, whether it be an expensive one at that. So a couple of extra 100 or so bucks later we were finally about to get out of Cairns once and for all. After a 3-4 week long on and off stint in Cairns, with many delays in the trips with the difference repairs/mechanics and what not.
Off we piled on the road with obviously me and Beth, also with Connor and Courtney, our OzIntro buddies from week 1 in AustrAaaalia. We had a few stops before we took to the direct highway to Darwin, there were a numerous amount of waterfalls on our detour, Paronella Park, Volcano tubes (which we never went to after driving there - too expensive), Devils Marbles, and other's (Can't think)
So our first destination were the 3 waterfalls near Millaa Millaa, they were called Millaa Millaa (Meaning Water Water [Double meaning Great Water]), Zillie, Ellinjaa. These were on one road just off the highway and around 20km's extra to our journey. There were all as beautiful as the next. We went Elli, Zill, Mil, and they just grew in size. The Millaa Millaa Waterfall was where Peter Andre filmed Mysterious Girl video, and its also where Herbal Essensce adverts are filmed.
From there we made our way to Paronella Park, and beautiful bit of architecture and landscaping. This place was built and designed by one Spanish man and a gang of 'convicts' to make his own little heaven, and castles to match. He was a wheeler dealer in Cane farms, Buy cheap run down ones, fix them up and collect the profits. So he become very wealthy very quickly. He toured the world to get ideas for his gardens, his castles, and thus Paronella Park was built. But it got struck by a couple of hurricanes and some of the buildings are battered. But the spot he choose has a beautiful Waterfall on his land.
On the way we encountered Snakes, Wallabies, Termite Mounds, Some Trees, No Trees, Some Cars, Some Lorrys then None of the above..
Another stop of was at Katerine Gorge, which we didn't spend to much time there, few photo's then back on the road, there be crocs in them here waters! So no Swimming.. We stopped of at somewhere near to Katherine that night, where we got bombarded by wallabies while drinking our goon :) Was great, and Connor defiantly took full advantage of the tame little critters.
Another stop was at Wycliffe Well where there is numerous sightings of Aliens and UFO's - WoooooOooo!! It turned out to be a restaurant, with loads of paper cuttings, could have been a few alien locals or something there to dazzle us! Funkers! But hey ho it was free to browse. Down the road were the Devils marbles, loads of big round boulders just randomly placed in the dessert, well not randomly put there by cranes, but over time they've done there thing.. :)
Erm.. What else was there, ah crossing of the Queensland & Northern Territory border. That was kinda nice.. Couple of extra snaps for the photo album, and us trying to do some jumping photo's and failing :) On route in the NT, we come across our 1ST!!!! Wild camel :) Well semi wild i'd say as he was tame and had an owner. But still!! It was a Camel in Oz! :)
I think i should stop rambling on but if i think of anything else to add in here, then i shall edit it soon :) Keep updated, i shall be doing Darwins's next :)
