Another cold start to the day and we're heading south out of Yellowstone and into Grand Teton National Park. The 80 mile drive to Colter Bay is wet, windscreen wipers and headlights all the way. We book into the campground and walk to the marina and find there is a cruise scheduled for that afternoon. We take a chance on the weather and pay for tickets hoping that the sun will make an appearance. We pass time at the store and visitor centre before returning to the marina to board our boat and head out across Jackson Lake. As if on cue, the cloud lifts and the sun breaks through as we motor around Elk Island to the foot of the Tetons. We while away a pleasant couple of hours on the boat, enjoying the guide's stories of the mountains, the lake itself and the wildlife. Onshore again and we head for the bar to make use of their wi-fi and have a drink. We decide that as the weather forecast is poor for the following day to continue moving south and hopefully avoid the rain. We book a site in Jackson Hole another 50 miles south and hope this will do the trick. As we walk back to the van it starts to rain again and once again our evening is lost to the deluge.
