Moving on today from the Black Hills of South Dakota, we start the day right with breakfast at the Sylvan Lake Lodge and a short walk around the lake. It's a stunning place, rightly acknowledged as the jewel in the crown of the park. We start our drive to Yellowstone today, it's a fair distance so we've broken it down into chunks. The first leg takes us about 200 miles east to Buffalo where we have an overnight stop. The journey is across endless grassland punctuated only by rain and roadworks, making for tiresome driving. We arrive, check in and hook up before making our way to a restaurant just out by the entrance to the RV park called the 'Winchester' that serves us great chicken pot pie and roast beef with vegetables, a welcome change from grilled food.
