Big sleep in today after last night. We didn't leave the hotel until an indulgent 11am. Today we hit Animal Kingdom, everyone had put this place down as "just a morning" no way, it's a place full of things for the kids to tie them up for days if they're into this sort of thing. Our half day left well over half the park unexplored.
We fastpassed the rapids ride then went off to see the the hard life for bugs show. I've never sat through one of these multi-sensory productions before. Fantastic - spiders drop from the roof, crawly things wriggle under your butt, stink sprays out at you, termite juice squirts in your face, brilliant stuff. The kids were stoaked with it.
Next we did the safari ride. No chance a real safari could be this dense with spottings, but the excitement on the kids faces throughout has nailed a family safari inthe next few years. They lit up as they spotted different kinds of animals followed by their mini-reports on them.
The biggest disappointment of the day was everyone coming out dry from the rapids ride. A slightly wet behind is all we had to show for the ride, a pretty tame affair the wall of water after an early drop was a highlight.
Lastly Gab and I went on the Everest Yeti Coaster. Any ride with just a lap bar tells you it'll be tame. But was a surprise, lots of spead and twists, love dark windy spirals! Check out the photos in the album, I never knew Gab could do such a great Don King impression :)
Remorseful at our dry state on such a hot day the kids begged to pause Animal Kingdom for another day and get over to Typhoon Lagoon. Glad we did! I've never been in a man made wave pool before. A ball, max was surfing 8ft waves for 20 meters, whilst Emerson and I were ducking under big walls of water with no tow behind to lash us around, grand fun. We did this for half an hour then went off in search of rides. First we took the family raft we all got wet but it wasn't that thrilling. Emerson was wrapped up with the idea she could go on a tube on her own, so we took one of the tube slides where she splashed down laughing her head off. Max was back to telling anything sentient about how awesome the thing was.
A very lazy day by our usual standards for this holiday, but we want to hit Holywood Studios for the opening at 8am tomorrow so the kids are already tucked in. Good night!
