Brenton Kovacs's Travels
9th
Its another great day with blue skies, and the temperature around 10 degrees. Going to take a break from the mountains and catch a train to see some other towns.
So its off to Bern. Its about 100ks north west of Interlaken. The trip take just over an hour, and has some great scenery. We hug the shore of Lake Thun from Interlaken to Thun, The scenery along the lake shore is very pretty. From Thun to Bern is lush green fields with the Alps in the background.
On arriving in Bern the first thing i want to see is the old city. Well what a wonderful place. Its is far better than Zurich. As i walk down one of the streets i come across the apartment where Albert Einstein lived for some time. It has been turned into a small museum, but unfortunately for me it is closed all of January. I wander around the old city for a few hours, and am impressed.
Well i am glad i made the trip to Bern, such a wonderful little city with some stunning views. On the return trip back to Interlaken i get off at a town called Thun, and walk around this quaint town. Like Bern it has on old town area with a few castles(under repair) and a crystal clear river flowing through the town. Such a lovely place.
The train i took to Bern was an ICE train (inter city express) and it was great. As well as having normal seating you could choose to sit in a private compartment, and once the door is closed it was unbelievably quiet, and the ride was the smoothest i have experienced in a train.
