After a insane amount of time on a train we arrived in Xi'an。
Xi'an is a former capital of China and it is also our tour guides home town, we started with a quick walk around the town and stopped briefly to try a chinese beef burger, which put Mcdonalds to shame! We then headed through some tourist markets and onto the city wall which is a 13km square which surrounds the city centre, after being given some information about the wall we climbed to the top and hired some bikes.
Me and Sandy got a tandem and headed off along the ancient wall, the view from the top was incredible. We could see most of the city and passed some interesting sites including the Llama Temple which has a gold roof and a mixture of Chinese carnival sculptures. The ride took about an hour and a half and was brilliant, even with my back seat driver..
After the ride was over we headed back to the hotel via the historical bell and drum towers which were used to tell people the time before the invention of watches. (bell in the morning and drum at night).
In the evening we went to the Muslim Quarter and looked around the brilliant market stalls, we grabbed some meat and veggie pancakes for dinner from one of the stalls but my veggie one was far tooo spicy for my tastes!!
