Another lovely day in Cairo. Lazy start to the day with a sleep in, and then tea and felafels with the girls in my room. Then set off for the Egyptian museum.
The museum was simply awe inspiring. The sheer size of some of the monuments and coffins was amazing. And the mummies! These are mummies that are thousands of years old and they still have hair and skin. It's also pretty cool what they can do with modern science as well. With one of the mummies they could tell that she had bad arthritis in her knees. Can you imagine this Egyptian queen from thousands of years ago, and here we are today looking at her, knowing she had dicky knees?! They also had some mummified animals which were pretty cool. One queen was buried with her mummified pet baboon which was quite funny.
So anyway, the guards at the museum make you hand over all of your cameras before you go in. All I can say is when these people find out about the iPhone, it's going to blow their minds. So managed to sneak a couple of photos on my phone. Will upload them. They are not the best photos, because they were mostly taken from my hip pocket when no one was looking, but they're still alright. Because of the number of guards in the mummy and King Tut rooms I wasn't able to get any photos from these rooms.
So spent most of the day in the museum. This evening I did a bit of window shopping on one of the main roads. Had lovely koftas and rice for dinner. More shopping. Now back at the hostel chatting with the other backpackers. Good day really.
Thanks everyone for your messages it's been lovely reading them. Love to all,
Bon. X

Grandad Things seem to be getting even better. Cairo looks clean ! Are your girls in your room from different countries ? The phitos are great, even the hip pocket ones. XXX
Candice Glad to hear that it is safe to explore Egypt. You must be looking forward to the tour. Can't wait to visit there myself one day!
