Langley Park. As an outsider, it is a pretty unremarkable place. An ex-mining village on the edge of Durham, it has little to divert the attention. A smattering of shops, some boarded up others not, and an air of faded lives and fortune.
It was, however, mine and Abbie's first home for a year. 17 front street was our very own place, and I liked it very much. Again, a rather unremarkable terraced house, with laminate floors and beige carpets. Aside from a wide staircase and bright red fireplace, little to make it different from any other house in the town. But it was special because it was ours.
I can't say that my time in County Durham was particularly happy - I had a lot of crap going on in terms of lack of job prospects. But it occupies a particular place in my affections - and since we were swinging by, I told Craig we'd have to grab a couple of half-stottie sarnies when we arrived....
