Jay Bholey! - this is a Bundi greeting, where we are residing at the mo - its very picturesque, a lovely blue town with a palace built into the hills, yes yet another Fort but we are in Rajasthan afterall! we are staying in a gorgeous 250 year old haveli ran by a lovely old lady - Mama Ji, who is very cute! she calls herself our Indian mother! she opened up the family home as a guesthouse after her husband died in order to generate some income, so her & her daughters have been looking after us. Mama Ji's has lived in the houyse for 35 years since she got married & its been in the family for generations, her father- in-law's father's father used to be an adviser to the King of Bundi so he built the haveli as a gift, probably after some good advice! it's very old now & abit ramshackle but it still has worn out charm and although it's not as grand as it once was the house is beautiful all the same & has lots of character! The room we are staying in is the best room (the King once stayed there apparently) & has gorgeous stained glass windows, its 250 rupees a night (around 3 quid) so I absolutely love the place - it's Vintage India! it's been so nice to stay with a family & we've had lots of fun, sitting around the living room with the grandchildren teaching me Bollywood dance routines! i did however get fleeced here when i agreed to a questionable manicure/pedicure, which was literally a hand & foot shampoo (using Pantene!) but other than that is been lovely!
It does seems like i have a lot of time to write this diary, but the truth is that there really isn't much to do at night, its very difficult to get a beer round here as most of Rajasthan used to be dry, so unless we are in the tourist areas we havent been able to drink! horror of horrors! not that i really mind that much, as this will all change once we hit Mumbai in a few days! we have 4 nights there, so looking forward to blowing the budget in Bollywood, our next stop!
