So if I'm repeating the same thing over and over again I'm sorry its just I dont get time to read what I've actually put in the last blog ha ha. Hope they are ok.
So on the 13th we got the bus (surprise surprise) from Rotorua to Waitomo. I had heard Ellie was staying at the Brysons so I gave them a quick call to make sure they weren't having too much fun without me!! Lovely to speak to them. You girlies are doing a great job of looking after Ellie- a bit too well actually. I still need some friends when I get home ha ha!We stopped at the shops to get stocked up because Waitomo is in the middle of nowhere- literally! We were staying at Kiwi Pakas owned by the famous Crusty and Curley in Waitomo- i.e. 2 crazy guys that own the pub down the road as well! Crusty actually won Rural Bathcelor of the year once and won a chain saw- hhmmm couldnt wait to meet him lol. We opted for the 2hour Ruakuri Cave walk and it was absolutely stunning!! We had to turn on the lights out and the place just filled up with light from the blue glow worms- amazing!! The only annoying thing was the guy taking pictures every half second- he just saw it all through his camera but it was funny when he fell over ha ha!We went to Curleys bar on the night for a few cheeky ones- Bex was taking the piss out of Henry (Mclovin) because the night before he had got stuck outside the hostel and climbed through her window- when she woke up she was shouting 'this is my room get outtttttt' and he started shouting at her for being locked out like it was her fault ha ha!!Hes the most innocent little english guy ever and he was devastated!so funny!!It was great hearing how pretty much everyone in NZ had to go to the filming of Lord of the Rings to be an extra!
On the 14th we travelled to Taupo were we stopped for 2 days thank god!! Bloody bus!We did the Ruakuri reserve walk before we left Waitomo which was fun- more caves and then I slept on the bus to Taupo- Becky will be mad at me for saying that ha ha!We also did the Huka Falls which was lovely. Taupo has the largest crater lake in the world and in Maori they refer to it as the fish eye of New Zealand. Because it was Valentines day we walked down to a private it of beach and just took in the sun and scenery for the rest of the day- and yes I did get a Valentines day card!! (not that Bobski did...opppss). We went to Mulligans Irish bar on the night to treat each other to a steak....best thing EVER!We spent a couple of days chilling in Taupo- the weather has suddenly become very rainy and cloudy which is a bit rubbish.
On the 16th we left Taupo for River Valley. We stopped for some lunch in Turangi were bobski had a chocolate brownie- that kept him happy! We drove up through the Tongariro National Park and did a 30 minute walk to Tawhai falls- honestly we have never walked this much in our life its great! We drove through for about 2 hours and this is were Lord of the Rings is filmed so we watched the film on the bus which was cool. River Valley really was in the middle of nowhere ha ha! No phone signal, the bus couldnt get down the hill, all there was was our lodge and the river runnning in front. Some people seemed a little worried about this stop. THere was a swing thing going across the river and to my amazement Bobski had a go and jumped in like 5 times- not like him so I put it down to the new shorts he had bough- must be magic! The shower was like in the open and there was far too many bugs for my liking- it was all ok though when we settle down for beef roast dinner- yummmmmmy!! Not like the mums though ;-) Everyone was staying in the 32 bed dorm but we had our own room- thank god!We played crazy games all night (one included lying on the table and making your way under and round and not touching the floor!!) and giant jenga which was brill!!
On the 17th we made our way from RV to Wellington- our first big city in what seems like a long long time!! We were dreading walking up this huge hill to the bus and as we set off this lady from the lodge was driving up and stopped and picked us up!!!I kept telling her how much I loved her!!! After a long day on the bus we got to the hostel to find glass all over our room- I went down in a big mood and she said we were lucky because they would put us in a balcony room!! I thought it might be fit for the Queen but what was I thinking lol......We have had some right characters on the bus -Mum like Karina from leeds - Scouse pisshead -Steve and Dave- ugliest people think they are gods gift to women - ADHD Welsh Dave who likes to say rude things in Swedish!!! - Mclovin (henry) - the Elk killing swedish rocker!!! Honestly we seem normal for once!I cant believe I have been traveling this long and have had straight hair like twice, not worn any make up yet and I've done my own eyebrows- Vicky Wright would be proud!!! We just stopped in Wellington to get the ferry to the South Island early in the morning.
Thats it for now everyone....hope you enjoy reading....I'm trying to get the pics done but its being a real pain!!
