Alo Friends!
Communication has been limited here as you might be able to tell. Jumping on the internet is not quite as easy as it is at home, primarily because I do not have my own computer. So, here I sit on a teammates bed, thrilled to have a laptop burning my legs.
Pecs is beautiful and the people here are absolutely lovely. Our Hungarian teammates are the most helpful people-kind of like mother ducks to all of us ducklings. We just follow them around, wide-eyed and confused sometimes. The first day we were here we could not even get a water by ourselves. Today, however, I managed to go grocery shopping all by myself. It's quite a task though, shopping in a foreign country. Have you ever done that? Pictures are helpful and numbers too, but in Hungary you are responsible for weighing fruits and vegetables before you take them to the cashier and we cannot read the machine so that's a wash. I bought raspberries and tomatoes from a vendor on the street just because I did not have to weigh them!
Our apartments are gorgeous. We live in a courtyard, two to a room, dorm-style. They all have wood floors and our beds are pushed together so Nikki and I can snuggle. It's quite nice. The toilets are all different in every bathroom though, so you have to search for a lever or a button or a string...and so on. It's all very complicated. Everything is kind of complicated. We all travel in a big group, which is nice. The Hungarians say that we are a much more closely bonded group than ever before. This is true. We all really get along so far. Everyone is pretty relaxed. We have a nice courtyard with a big blossoming cherry tree and blackberry bushes, so we have spent our evenings sitting around, drinking good and inexpensive Hungarian wine and playing guitar and just talking. I am sure interesting situations will arise, but for now we are enjoying it.
Tomorrow we are going to a folk festival. We have watched Turkish dancers everynight in town where there is a festival. They do Greek dances that I know and want to jump in on really badly! I'm a little nervous to though.
All is well and I am having a fabulous time.
All my love
