Bob and Nige-The World Tour 2006! (Fi & Jen)
Hey kids!
Well, having finally left Koh Tao after the liquid party we had inflicted on our livers and too many mental antics all crammed into one blurred week we packed up and headed off to Ko Sok national park where we embarked (on Jenny's wishes) on a 9 hour 10 mile hike uphill through the jungle where the only sightings were one chameleon and a snake. I kid you not! Also at one point in the trek I was made to carry our guide uphill (yes that's right-me carry him!!) talk about good customer service!!! So after jungle touring we decided to embark on a 4 day live aboard diving safari round the Similan islands so headed off to Ko Lak in order to get the boat.
Upon our arrival in Ko Lak, we spotted Tim and Rich-2 guys we had played last man standing with in Ko Tao-so obviously another rematch was in order before we went diving. Needless to say the pair were overjoyed at running into us on the other side of the country although me and Jen have a sneaking suspicion they really followed us because they missed us so much! Haha! Anyway that evening after 6 buckets of sam song and red bull me and Jen took to the stage-pushing away the live band mid song in order to sing our own very unique rendition of Rotterdam and Don't look back in anger-needless to say this spot of singing was hardly the most tuneful although at the time we felt as if it was the best singing ever to have graced a stage. Nextday-2 massive hangovers and 4 litres of water later we were ready for our trip (after having tried on about 30 different wetsuits-not the best!)
The live aboard trip was a real treat-the boat was filled with a real variety of hilarious characters-however (instead of a couple of jokers or some fitties) we were diving in a group with the most BORING couple in the world-Martha and Craig-who after only 4 dives to their name had bought every piece of diving kit known to man and every gadget to boot-the most annoying of which was a 6 foot camera which was constantly whipped out for every stone, fish, rock, piece of coral-you name it they took pictures of it-VERY annoying. The Similan islands were gorgeous though-every day after our first 2 dives we were able to take a smaller boat to shore where the sands were white and the underwater visibility was around 30 meters! Unbelievable! We were really in paradise! The highlight of our trip was spotting manta rays on our 3rd day- me and Jen had done 18 dives before we saw one, whereas our instructors had done 1200 and 4000 dives respectively and only seen 1 once before-so we were really lucky!
Today we are heading to Railay and Krabi to do some rock climbing before traveling to Singapore-we have added some photos of our trip to the site!
Ruari I cannot wait for the trip to Africa! But I'm going to have to start saving now!! Haha!
Happy Birthday to Claire and Natalie-Hope you had a wild tiome!!
Lots of love Fi and Jen xxxxxxxx
